Art therapy is a treatment for all ages and for physical-, psychic and social-emotional problems. Every person has a creative ability and can apply this ability to create more balance and vitality. Art therapy stimulates and enhances this creative ability.
In art therapy both medical and psychological knowledge are combined in artistic activities. It is a a non-verbal method, people can express themselves illustrative when they have problems to do this verbally.
The experience in colour and shape are most important. Art therapy emphasises the process, not the result. Every session focuses on the individual needs of the person, even when working in groups.
A variety of materials and techniques are offered during the therapy for example drawing (pencil, charcoal or crayon), painting (acrylic or aquarelle) and sculpting. Art therapy requires no additional artistic ability.
